Located in SoLé Mia, North Miami, the position supports the University of Miami UHealth – Orthopedic Sports Medicine team in providing high‑quality academic medical care to the South Florida community.

Core Job Functions

Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic, or potential injuries and illnesses.

Take a thorough history, including chief complaint, vitals, pain score, mechanism of injury, past medical history, and review of systems.

Perform appropriate physical examination (range of motion, strength/man‑manual muscle testing, neurovascular and sensation testing, palpation, special/ligamentous testing, and functional testing) and present findings to attending physicians.

Transcribe, enter, and execute standing orders under physician direction within scope of practice (including imaging, EMG, lab work, medication, referrals).

Provide patient education, instructional for rehabilitation exercises, and discuss orthopaedic appliance use.

Fit patients with splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other orthopedic appliances/DMEs and advise on billing procedures.

Perform wound care, gait training, casting application and removal; remove sutures and perform dressing changes for post‑operative patients.

Aide physicians in preparing and administering injections, including consent and supply preparation.

Complete surgical booking sheets, manage clinic scheduling, and serve as liaison between patient, surgeon, and coordinator.

Assist with physician paperwork (medical leave, workers’ compensation, insurance authorizations, appeals).

Maintain clinic appearance, order supplies, and procure billing assistance.

Answer patient questions regarding outpatient procedures, post‑operative recovery, and rehabilitation protocols.

Serve as preceptor/mentor for students observing or shadowing in sports medicine.

Adhere to University and unit‑level policies, protecting university assets.

Core Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

State athletic training licensure (required).

Board certification (BOC) preferred.

American Heart Association BLS certification preferred.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
