Site Reliability Engineer – Java
Join Splunk, a Cisco company, as a Site Reliability Engineer in our FedRAMP team. Build highly available, scalable, and cost‑efficient services on a hybrid, multi‑cloud platform. Drive automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and reliability across a massive‑scale data processing environment.
Your Impact You will design and build the next generation of our large‑scale cloud offering, working with multiple service owners to implement SRE best practices, observability, chaos engineering, and DevOps. Your work will shape our engineering culture and help every team deliver better, faster, and more reliable products.
Key Responsibilities
Own Splunk Cloud in FedRAMP environments.
Collaborate across the organization to deliver high‑quality products that delight users.
Build state‑of‑the‑art cloud‑based environments for massive‑scale data processing.
Lead automation initiatives to reduce manual operational tasks.
Apply SRE practices, such as incident response, post‑mortem analysis, and reliability monitoring.
Provide guidance on security, compliance, and network architecture within regulated environments.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience or strong interest in regulated computing environments (FISMA, FedRAMP).
Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS) and ecosystem tools; Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, CKS) are a plus.
Deep understanding of Linux systems, networking (L2/L3, VLANs), and system services.
Proficiency in Java (preferred) and automation of Linux tasks.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance profiling.
Ability to identify performance bottlenecks, anomalous behavior, and root cause of service issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience monitoring cloud environments with Splunk.
Experience deploying and operating in AWS, Azure, or GCP; cloud certifications are a plus.
Background in large‑scale distributed system design and architecture.
## Experience with traffic management and distributed software scalability.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $126,500 – $182,000 (U.S./Canada). U.S. employees are eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with matching, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Additional benefits include paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and optional volunteer time.
