Avionics Lead 4 – Metrea Position Summary: This role leads avionics installations, troubleshooting, and repair work scopes within the Avionics Department. The Avionics Lead 4 must master avionics systems knowledge, including electronic instruments, communications, navigation, and autopilot systems. The role ensures systems are installed, maintained, and operated per regulations and industry standards to maintain continuous state of airworthiness. The ideal candidate holds an A&P license and has experience on Metrea aircraft types.

Group Overview Metrea’s Aerospace Engineering Group (AERO) is responsible for developing and delivering aviation engineering and integration capabilities, focusing on aircraft modification, system integration, and technical project management. AERO transforms mission requirements into operational assets by designing, engineering, and integrating new systems and technologies. The group manages aviation project lifecycles from concept to testing, ensuring aircraft modifications meet performance, safety, and airworthiness standards.

Role & Responsibilities

Mentor junior avionics personnel when working on tasks.

Lead avionics personnel on special projects or tasks, maintaining highest quality and workmanship per IAW published authority and FAA requirements.

Self-sufficient in troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, installing, and updating avionics systems without direct supervision.

Integrate new avionics or other electronic systems within an airframe, building wire harnesses, proper pinning, crimping, routing, terminating, and functional checking after modifications.

Experience with STC approval process, conformity of parts, first article inspections, document control, and red lining procedures; collaborate with Engineering, ODA’s, DER’s, DAR’s, and Quality Control.

Coordinate with the inspection department to complete proper paperwork for each installation or repair.

Assist and coordinate with other departments to progress avionics installations or repairs of assigned projects.

Ensure enforcement of company and departmental policies and procedures.

Skills & Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

10+ years of aircraft structures experience and advanced knowledge of aircraft systems.

Preferred certifications: A&P Certificate.

Basic computer skills.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications Proficiency in maintenance technical publications, structural inspection and repair manual, AMOS, and Veryon/FlightDocs for aircraft maintenance tracking, documentation, and compliance.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time non-exempt position with typical working hours from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours and shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Non-exempt employees may be required to work over 40 hours per week with approval from the department manager.

Work Environment The job operates primarily in a hangar or flight line environment, with exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noise, and aircraft systems. The role may require standing, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Technicians must adhere to strict safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE. Occasional travel and overtime may be required to support operational demands.
