Overview The RN Procedural Periop is responsible for providing high quality, skilled nursing services to assist patients to achieve optimum health, functional health status and safe passage while receiving an invasive or interventional procedure during an episodic or series of visits.

Responsibilities

Provide skilled assessment, triage, education, collaboration and coordination of healthcare and community resources, supporting patients to achieve optimum functional health status throughout their procedural experience.

Demonstrate technical expertise in procedural, PACU, and perioperative areas to support patient care during the episodic visit where interventions and procedures occur.

Perform moderate sedation, including pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure administration, patient monitoring, and post-procedure recovery.

Cross‑train in functional areas to support patient care across multiple areas of clinical care within the assigned department.

Provide patient education and pre/post procedural calls to support patient care in anticipation of and follow‑up to procedures/discharge.

Participate in quality or safety process improvement teams or projects.

Facilitate learning for patients/families, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

Clinical Judgment & Skills

Apply clinical reasoning, clinical decision‑making, critical thinking, and evidence‑based guidelines.

Employ nursing knowledge, skills, experience, and attitudes needed to meet the needs of patients and families.

Demonstrate caring practices, including compassion, therapeutic environment, and comfort.

Work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and with community partners.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.

Current Washington state licensure as an RN.

CPR certification required every two years.

ACLS certification.

PALS (depending on location).

Completion of related residency program with minimum 2 years of experience in area of care (OR, PACU).

Prefer minimum 1 year experience in GI specialty.

Strong patient assessment skills, ability to work collaboratively in team setting, current working knowledge of electronic medical records.

Location Virginia Mason Franciscan Health – 11 hospitals and nearly 300 sites throughout the greater Puget Sound region.

Pay Range $47.22 – $80.46 per hour
