Forensic

practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.

The Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Forensic Structural Engineer with interests in structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, structural repair, and retrofit design. This individual will be expected to participate in structural investigations of existing buildings and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions at the direction of senior forensics staff. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, risk loss insurance, claims response, and litigation support. The candidate will work as part of a project team, performing tasks assigned by project managers and supporting project deadlines and deliverables under the direction of senior forensics staff.

Responsibilities

On-site inspections and investigations including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching.

Research the historical background of diverse structures, technical issues, and code issues.

Organize field data to facilitate analysis and problem-solving.

Complete structural analysis and repair rehabilitation design of concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and other structural systems.

Requirements

Degree (Master’s preferred) in structural or architectural engineering; an undergraduate in engineering is required.

Field experience with diverse building types preferred.

Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Compensation The rate for this position generally is $70,000 - $80,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
