Senior Design Release Engineer (Wiring Harness) Senior Design Release Engineer (DRE)

Role Description: We are seeking a highly skilled

Senior Design Release Engineer (DRE)

to join our global engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that

wire harness designs meet both customer and company requirements , leading technical discussions, and managing design releases through every stage of the product lifecycle. You will act as the primary interface with customers for technical deliverables, change management, and issue resolution.

As a senior-level engineer, you will also mentor junior engineers, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and substitute for supervisors when needed.

Key Activities: Lead the

design release process

for wire harnesses, from concept through production.

Package and integrate wire harnesses and components in the

3D environment , ensuring compliance with customer requirements.

Oversee

customer change control : part release systems, cost studies, design changes, and issue management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (3D CAD, 2D Engineering, Systems Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing) to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.

Develop and maintain

program-specific DFMEAs

and support validation processes (USCAR-21/38/45, DVP&R).

Represent Engineering in

customer design reviews, digital buck reviews, and system compatibility reviews .

Support

vehicle builds and launches

at customer pilot and assembly plants.

Generate and implement

cost savings ideas

and participate in VAVE workshops.

Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the development of design standards, processes, and guidelines.

Candidate Profile: Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

7+ years of automotive engineering experience (wire harness design strongly preferred).

Skills & Knowledge:

Proficiency in

customer and internal change management systems .

Strong understanding of

wire harness manufacturing, vehicle assembly, and DFM principles .

Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and customer specifications.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Advanced English (spoken and written).

Other Requirements:

Willingness to travel and support customer builds as needed.

Ability to troubleshoot and rework wire harnesses during builds.
