Akkodis seeks a Wire Harness Design Release Engineer (Contract, Hybrid – Dearborn, MI) Akkodis is seeking a Wire Harness Design Release Engineer for a contract engagement with a client in Dearborn, MI (Hybrid). You will manage Design Verification Plans (DVP) and lead validation testing activities to ensure compliance with GPDS timing and quality standards.

Rate Range: $40/hour to $45/hour (negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors).

Responsibilities

Manage Design Verification Plans (DVP) in alignment with GPDS VPP timing, including milestone identification, test classification, and DV audits.

Generate and maintain DVPs with inputs from Design & Release engineers, propose test methods using benchmarking, and identify DV opportunities based on warranty/field findings.

Lead DV testing activities with DRs and suppliers, define engineering prototypes by build phase, and perform engineering cost estimates for physical test plans.

Track and ensure closure of DVs as per DVP, support Technical Design Reviews (TDRs), and confirm checklist items and milestone management reviews are completed.

Coordinate part ordering and validation sign-off, raise issues in client systems for non‑compliant DVs, and support creation/upkeep of SCCAF and DFMEA documentation.

Support durability and PV vehicle testing, on‑site evaluations in manufacturing plants, and lead lessons learned dashboards, quality reviews, and campaign prevention audits.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or related field).

5–10 years in wiring harness design and vehicle launch.

Strong knowledge of GPDS processes and experience managing Design Verification Plans (DVP) and validation testing activities.

Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (3DX/CATIA) and ability to lead Technical Design Reviews and issue resolution throughout product development.
