Position The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its part‑time lecturer pool. Seeking experienced, well‑organized, student‑centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas.
Intro to Ethnic Studies
Communication Skills
Introduction to Chicana and Chicano Studies
This pool of part‑time lecturers is drawn on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available. Appointments are temporary, often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and require availability on very short notice.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for introductory courses (100‑ or 200‑level) must have at least a Master’s degree in a field relevant to the department’s curriculum. A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is required for upper‑division courses (300‑ or 400‑level).
Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to those with prior teaching experience at the college or university level and strong teaching evidence. Highly desirable is a candidate who can work effectively with a broad mix of students, including those with diverse cultural backgrounds and varying socioeconomic and family college‑going experiences.
Preference given to those with experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Preference given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

Three letters of recommendation – once selected as a finalist, references will be notified via email to upload their confidential letter of recommendation.
Appointment and Salary All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Performance Evaluation Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future teaching assignments.
Mandated Reporter The person holding this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.
Criminal Background Clearance Notice This offer is contingent upon a satisfactory background check and may be rescinded if disqualifying information is revealed or if information is knowingly withheld or falsified. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background screening required by CSU policy.
