Job Purpose
The Analyst, Indirect Tax supports various functions within the Indirect Tax Group. The role will support indirect tax compliance, research, planning audits, systems, and controversy. The position reports to the Manager of Indirect Tax and provides support to the Indirect Tax Team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with indirect tax compliance, including preparation and review of sales/use, GST, VAT, Telecommunication, annual reports, and property tax returns. Gather, manipulate, and analyze data in preparation of the return. Facilitate communication between global teams as part of the monthly process.
- Assist with indirect tax inquiries and audits, including data collection, analysis, and issue investigation.
- Assist with indirect tax system implementations, including setup, testing, and issue resolution.
- Help develop solutions for indirect tax automation, including technology tools and processes to improve efficiency.
- Assist with administration of OneSource (Sabrix), monitoring rate and law changes, setting up new products/services, maintaining exemption certificates, and updating rates monthly.
- Research, investigate, and respond to jurisdictional notices.
- Interpret state tax statutes, regulations, law changes, and local tax ordinances to ensure compliance.
- Assist with indirect tax GL account reconciliations, tax calculations, and related journal entries.
- Support indirect tax special projects as needed.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of business operations and apply this knowledge in tax analysis.
- Assist with developing and documenting processes and procedures related to indirect tax.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, either in-house with a U.S. multinational or in public accounting.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to make recommendations and follow up.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Proactive communication regarding compliance status, deadlines, and planning.
- Ability to clearly convey tax explanations and recommendations to both tax and non-tax personnel verbally and in writing.
- Teamwork skills and willingness to assist others.
- Strong knowledge of Excel; knowledge of Alteryx is a plus.
- Knowledge or experience with Oracle and/or OneSource (Sabrix) is a plus.
