Position: Full Time – Friday to Sunday, 2 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Description
Perform venipuncture and collect specimens for laboratory testing. Label specimen containers accurately, deliver to the appropriate destination, and perform order entry duties as required. Provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, and treatment needs of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. Comply with department policies, procedures, and regulations.
Minimum Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
Draw an average of 7 patients per hour within the first 90 days of employment.
Proficiency in use of Laboratory Information System within first 90 days.
ASCP eligible; BLS preferred.
Read, write, and speak English fluently.
Dependable transportation, willing to work irregular/flexible hours and holidays.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of work‑related information.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend; moderate lifting up to 50 pounds; moderate chemical exposure.
Staff must pass color vision test; hearing within normal range.
Core Job Responsibilities
Procurement and distribution of specimens, (blood, urine, etc.), computer data entry and operation of computer equipment.
Process and receive specimens for the technical staff; prepare and send out specimens for reference testing.
Answer incoming calls for the laboratory.
Monitor phlebotomy supply inventory and rotate supplies as needed.
Perform breath alcohol, urine drug screen, and SLED collections.
Respond to all traumas, code strokes and sepsis in the ED; medical alerts and emergencies for inpatient floors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work as a team member and interact positively with others.

Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Ability to withstand stress, maintain strict confidentiality, and respond calmly in crisis situations.
Good manual dexterity and coordination for locating veins.
