Tessera is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support operations for WSBOSC. This role is responsible for safely operating a wide variety of heavy machinery—including cranes, bulldozers, loaders, graders, scrapers, sweepers, and industrial tractors—to excavate, move, and load materials. The operator may also be required to read and interpret grade and slope stakes, follow simple plans, and perform minor equipment adjustments or emergency repairs. Typical Duties Operate various heavy and light equipment in maintenance and new construction of projects such as preparing, paving, patching streets and parking lots, maintaining gravel and other earth surfaced roads and access roads, blading road and ditches, removing or installing culverts, clearing weeds, etc. Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans. Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required. Participate in routine maintenance. May grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment. Apply all code requirements during installations, repairs and maintenance. Ensure all manufacturer specifications are met; ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded. Ensure all environmental protection requirements are met. Qualifications High school Diploma/GED is required. 3-5 years of experience with heavy equipment. Read and understand drawings, work plans and maps. Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to read, write and comprehend applicable written and oral instructions. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand and use repetitive motion for several hours. Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required. Must have perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time. Requirements A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
