The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a part‑time Detox Counselor position. Hours are 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm, weekdays/weekend. Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor will provide Social Detox clients with clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs.
Responsibilities
Screen, admit, discharge, and refer Detox clients.
Provide individual counseling and conduct alcohol education and skill building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment.
Handle crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
Maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
Minimum one year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.
Demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master’s degree in behavioral health science.
Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.
Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises.
Current CPR/First Aid Training.
