Job Description
We are seeking a Medical Dosimetrist to develop patient treatment plans, calculate and verify radiation doses, prepare measurements for approval, design dose distributions, coordinate treatments with technical staff, interact with radiation oncologists, and assist with procedures. The role also encompasses quality assurance, equipment monitoring, safety program support, equipment evaluation, dose accuracy verification, compliance with safety standards, and teaching radiation therapy students during dosimetry rotations. Responsibilities
Develop patient treatment plans as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Calculate and verify radiation doses for patients undergoing therapy. Prepare patient measurements and perform various treatment plans for approval by the physicist or oncologist. Design optimal approaches and calculate corresponding dose distributions for treatment. Work with technical staff to coordinate treatments and provide guidance on complex cases throughout the entire patient journey. Interact with radiation oncologists to define target volumes and critical structures. Assist radiation oncologists with procedures, computer calculations, and dose distributions. Assist physicists in monitoring and setup of equipment, calculations, and testing of new equipment. Support physicists with quality assurance and safety programs, including related documentation. Provide ongoing equipment evaluation to ensure proper functioning and oversee maintenance schedules and documentation. Verify accuracy of accumulated total dose and calculations for each patient and document in the patient’s chart. Ensure compliance with departmental, regulatory, and safety standards. Assist in training and mentoring radiation therapy students during their dosimetry rotation, including instruction on treatment planning systems, dose calculations, and workflow. Qualifications / Requirements
Certification as Medical Dosimetrist Preferred. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred. Minimum 5 years experience as Medical Dosimetrist Preferred. Proficiency in treatment planning systems (e.g., Eclipse) and ARIA record-and-verify system. Strong understanding of radiation physics, anatomy, and oncology principles. Patient Population Served
