Responsibilities In your role, you will:
Perform set up of the heart‑lung machine, intra‑aortic balloon pump, autologous blood salvage system, other extracorporeal systems and related equipment.
Manage the cardiopulmonary bypass system, the intra‑aortic balloon pump, isolated limb perfusion system, autologous blood salvage system and other related systems, during patient procedures and under physician supervision.
Assist implantation and monitor ventricular assist devices and ECMO circuits.
Select, assemble, set up and test heart‑lung machines to ensure that machine and associated equipment function according to specifications. Clean and adjust parts of the heart‑lung machine.
Operate heart‑lung machines to regulate blood circulation and composition, to administer drugs and anesthetic agents, and to control body temperature during surgery or respiratory/cardiac failure of patients.
Monitor operation of heart‑lung machine and patient’s physiologic variables such as blood temperature, blood composition and flow rate, and adjust equipment to maintain normal body functions.
Qualifications Education
Graduate from an accredited Perfusion program required
Credentialed by the CHS Medical Staff Office as an Allied Health Professional and privileged to perform Perfusionist standardized procedures required
Licenses and Certifications
CCP - Certified Clinical Perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion required
BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required
