Job Overview PAE is looking for a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in either our Portland or San Francisco offices. The role focuses on foundational knowledge in fire protection system design, modeling, and documentation, including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and special suppression systems.

Responsibilities

Develop foundational knowledge in fire protection system design, modeling, and documentation

Use Revit and AutoCAD as design/drafting tools

Provide task-based support for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems

Understand drawings, specifications, building codes (e.g., NFPA 13, 72) and industry standards

Complete assigned work with instruction from project team members

Assist with construction administration

Perform basic hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems

Perform battery sizing calculations for fire alarm systems

Assist in the layout and design of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, and special suppression systems

Contribute to the layout and design of fire alarm systems, including notification appliances, initiating devices, and sequence of operations

May assist in the design layout of plumbing systems, providing task-based support

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Fire Protection preferred)

Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) or ability to obtain within 18 months

Prior internship or cooperative education experience in building systems or fire protection preferred

Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills

Passionate about results and detail-oriented

Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, and AutoCAD

Salary and Benefits

Hiring Base Salary Range: $69,400 - $87,600 annually (eligible for time and a half overtime pay)
