Responsibilities

Design and implement central/field communications, traffic control equipment, communications devices, traffic controller hardware and software, transit signal priority, CCTV cameras, DMS, traffic detectors, and electronic tolling equipment

Assist with the development of practice areas related to ITS program management and oversight, Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), Transportation Management Centers (TMC), Advanced Traveler Information Systems (ATIS), Managed Lanes, Automated Connected Electric and Shared (ACES) vehicle, Electrified Mobility, emerging technology projects, and associated performance measures

Design & implement National ITS Standards, Open Road Tolling, Active Traffic Management, communications systems, power distribution networks, lighting control, and traffic control equipment

Develop Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E) design packages, systems engineering analysis, ITS Architectures, and Concept of Operations

With QA/QC oversight and guidance from senior staff: lead deliverables for small projects/tasks, prepare elements of engineering design concepts, plans, specifications, and quantity estimates for complex projects and prepare elements of engineering reports for complex projects

Compose reports with guidance from senior staff

Active participation in QA/QC process

With guidance from senior staff, develop presentation materials and present technical results to clients

This position is subject to a governmental background check

Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering

5+ years of experience working on large, complex projects with strong project management background

Experience in industry standards, including IEEE, NTCIP, MUTCD, NEMA, ATC, and NFPA standards

Experience working with multiple state DOTs/regions

Leadership role in professional organizations

Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design

Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license

Detailed hands‑on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, AutoCAD and Guide Sign software

Detailed hands‑on experience conducting operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun

Detailed hands‑on experience conducting safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
