Mid‑Level Liaison Engineer – Portland, Oregon We are seeking proactive Mid‑Level Liaison Engineers to support the Portland, Oregon site.

The role requires rapid engineering decisions and a willingness to move beyond the desk and into the factory for hands‑on engineering.

Position Responsibilities

Analyze and conduct root‑cause analysis, developing dispositions for production non‑conformances.

Apply knowledge of client design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.

Research technical, operational and quality issues in support of executing final engineering solutions.

Identify documents, analyze reported problems and communicate deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommend and manage resolution.

Develop and implement product/process improvements.

Support Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participate in design reviews.

Represent the engineering community from initial build through the production and post‑production environment.

Ensure supplier and build partner compliance with client standards.

Develop customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

Participate in on‑site disabled product repair teams, accident investigation and support teams.

Analyze damage repair or structural modification to determine appropriate jacking and shoring, prevent collateral damage and assure a safe work environment.

Design interim structural repairs and conduct static strength analysis.

Develop non‑destructive test procedures, tools and standards.

Work Conditions

This is a fully onsite position.

The candidate will experience daily exposure to a factory environment that includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entry into assembly stages of aircraft.

Participation in an approximately 9‑month Client Company Training Rotation Program is required.

Assignments may involve first, second or third shift, weekend or daily overtime, and occasional travel during the rotation.

Work Authorization

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements.

A “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required (i.e., US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science Degree from an ABET‑or equivalent accredited course of study in engineering.

Five or more years of experience in structures, systems, design or production engineering (mid‑level).

Five or more years of experience in a prior Materiel Review Board.

Preferred Qualifications

Deep understanding of materials, including steel, aluminum, and titanium strength/capabilities.

Familiarity with material forms (bar stock, forgings, castings) and reactions to machining.

Knowledge of post‑machining processing and machining limitations.

Expertise in geometry and sequencing for material removal (multiple passes, cutter speed and feed).

Experience with load‑path analysis for complex integrated shapes, thin walls and undercuts.

Understanding of surface condition, visual inspection and FOD (drill/cutter breaks).

Proficiency in GD&T, including true position, parallel surface, and bonus tolerance.

Ability to interpret drawing datums, surfaces and profiles for tolerancing.

Experience with gear/shaft fit‑up, gear tables, teeth/spline profiles, runout, gear engagement, bearing/shaft fit, and gear interaction.

Knowledge of heat treatment, induction hardening, stress relief, peening, blasting, etching, plating (cad, chrome, Zi‑Ni), and finishing processes (anodizing, passivation, primer, paint sequence).

Understanding of functional test requirements and diagnostics of aircraft‑level impact on performance.

Familiarity with general repair of machined parts, bushings, heli‑coils, inserts, re‑processing and re‑finishing requirements.

Knowledge of corrosion protection post‑processing, seal and primer requirements.

Education & Experience

Mid‑level candidates typically hold a Bachelor’s in engineering or related technical field and possess five or more years of related work experience, or an advanced degree (Master’s, Ph.D.) with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ABET accreditation is preferred but not required.

Shift & Schedule

Multiple shifts are required.

Candidates may be assigned to first, second or third shift, as well as weekend or daily overtime.

Overtime and DOT are expected on a rotation basis.
