To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this .The Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing (H) supervises and directs the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. The Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing (H) oversees staffing and provides direction and support to department staff to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations.**CORE JOB FUNCTIONS*** Ensures the development of staff by providing orientation and continuing education programs.* Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.* Provides for the maintenance of necessary supplies and equipment.* Assists in achieving compliance with accrediting and licensing requirements.* Serves as a liaison with the operating room and other departments.* Recommends quality and performance improvement initiatives.* Demonstrates knowledge of and follows departmental and medical center policies and procedures.* Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.* Ensures employees are trained in controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.***This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.*****CORE QUALIFICATIONS****Education:*** High School or Equivalent* Graduate of a Vocational Training Program in Central Sterile Processing or a Surgical Tech program required**Certification and Licensing**:

Hold one of the following certifications.* CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) IAHCSMM* CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) CBSPD* CST (Certified Surgical Technician) NBSTSA* BLS certification is required from the American Heart Association**Experience:**Any combination of relevant education, work experience, and/or certifications will be considered.Surgical or Central Sterile Processing experience preferred.**Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:*** General knowledge of office procedures and operations.* Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.* Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).* Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.* Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, reports and correspondence.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
