Position Lockheed Martin is looking for an experienced and dynamic Interceptor Development Chief Engineer to join the Theater High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) program.
Responsibilities
Support the THAAD Interceptor Chief Engineer with primary delegated responsibility for the THAAD development program
Act as the main technical authority and liaison to customers, program leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders for THAAD interceptor development and obsolescence redesign activities
Lead, mentor, organize and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team
Drive timely and effective resolution of critical development issues by developing action plans, setting priorities, and briefing executive and external leadership on status, recommendations, and risks
Efficiently close internal and external FRBs through a disciplined root cause and corrective action process
Evaluate and approve technical baselines and BOEs to enforce development of executable, affordable and technically sound proposals
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience
Significant experience in Aerospace and/or Defense Industry
Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve technical issues/challenges – Root Cause/Corrective Actions
Demonstrated history of engineering excellence and technical leadership
U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
Desired Skills
Experience and familiarity with a variety of engineering disciplines
Prior experience with the THAAD program or similar missile programs
Prior development program experience
Experience with troubleshooting test failures
Experience working with and directing suppliers
Strong mentoring skills as evidenced through active mentoring relationships
Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results
Demonstrated ability to interact with customers and build effective relationships
Demonstrated ability to communicate successfully both written and verbally across all levels of an organization from entry level to executive Vice Presidents
Demonstrated agility in decision-making
Active or current Secret clearance

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our paid time‑off benefits.
Schedule for this Position:
9x80 every other Friday off.
Compensation & Benefits Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington D.C. is $139,600 – $246,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
