## Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).****Our success is driven by our people. To support our continued growth, we are strengthening our workforce strategy to ensure we have the right talent, at the right time, in the right way.**The **Sr. Director, IT Strategy and Operation** reports to the CIO and operates as a strategic advisor, integrator, and execution leader supporting the CIO in driving technology adoption, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise communications. This role will be responsible for helping drive strategy, lead complex transformation programs, and keep our global technology organization operating at peak performance. This role will ensure alignment between strategic priorities, operational execution, and stakeholder engagement across IT and the business.The Sr. Director, IT Strategy and Operations will shape and manage the rhythm of business for the IT organization—synchronizing strategic planning, goals, performance measurement, communications, governance, and cross-functional initiatives—to maximize impact, transparency, and accountability. The role requires exceptional judgment, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex technical and organizational concepts into clear narratives and actionable decisions for senior leadership. The successful candidate will be someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings structure to ambiguity, and knows how to get big things done.**Position Specific Responsibilities:****Strategy & Alignment*** Partner with the CIO and leadership team to define, communicate, and execute IT’s strategic priorities and operating model.* Facilitate strategic planning, OKR development, and progress tracking across IT functions.* Synthesize inputs from enterprise initiatives, digital transformation, and business units into coherent roadmaps and recommendations.* Ensure the CIO’s agenda, communications, and decisions are aligned to organizational priorities and timelines.**Operational Excellence*** Own and manage the IT rhythm of business (leadership meetings, QBRs, portfolio reviews, decision/action tracking).* Oversee portfolio and operational metrics, ensuring visibility into performance, risks, and dependencies.* Drive operational discipline across planning, budgeting, and governance processes in partnership with Finance, PMO, and HR.* Manage strategic initiatives and cross-functional programs on behalf of the CIO, ensuring measurable impact.**Communications & Executive Engagement*** Serve as a communications leader for the CIO—drafting presentations, reports, and talking points for ELT/Board updates and company-wide communications.* Distill complex issues into concise and compelling narratives for executive and cross-functional audiences.* Act as liaison between the CIO and key internal/external stakeholders, ensuring consistent and proactive engagement.* Maintain alignment and transparency across IT and business leaders through structured reporting and storytelling.**Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness*** Serve as an extension of the CIO—driving accountability, enabling decision-making, and managing follow-through on key commitments.* Lead and coordinate special projects and change initiatives that improve operational effectiveness or cultural alignment.* Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative culture; coach leaders on effective communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management.**Specialized Knowledge & Skills:*** Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.* Exceptional executive communication and storytelling; mastery in slide development and presentation creation.* Deep understanding of IT operating models, governance, and performance management frameworks.* Proven ability to translate technical and operational complexity into actionable business insights.* Demonstrated success managing cross-functional initiatives and executive communications.* Experience in a regulated or life sciences environment preferred.* Adept at managing ambiguity, prioritizing competing demands, and maintaining discretion on sensitive matters.**Educational Requirements:****Identify the educational qualifications that an employee must possess to perform the job duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.*** Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.* Advanced degree (MBA or related) preferred.**Experience:*** 15+ years of progressive IT experience across a broad technology landscape including applications, PMO, data, and AI. 4+ years in a leadership role.* Demonstrated success operating as a chief-of-staff or equivalent strategic operator for a technology executive.* Experience in biotech/pharma or other regulated industries strongly preferred.* Track record leading cross-functional portfolios, improving SLAs/OLAs, and maturing ITIL processes.* Hands-on experience with IT financial management, vendor/SOW oversight, and contract negotiations.* Proven ability to prepare executive materials and drive decisions with data and clear tradeoffs.Madrigal’s Total Rewards strategy is based on a biotech industry peer group comparator and is inclusive of base pay, bonus and equity. Base salary is determined by several factors including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs and market demands.
