Salary:

$12,500.00 monthly

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Z/OS Systems Programmer. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Z/OS administration, storage management, and hardware management. Responsibilities include maintaining, optimizing, and securing the Z/OS mainframe system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Z/OS Administration: Manage and administer Z/OS operating systems, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Storage Management: Oversee storage allocation, management, and optimization. Monitor storage usage, perform capacity planning, and implement backup and recovery strategies.

Hardware Management: Manage Z/OS hardware infrastructure, including mainframes, storage devices, and peripherals. Coordinate upgrades, replacements, and repairs.

System Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats, ensuring compliance with standards.

Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance and resource utilization, implementing improvements for efficiency and reliability.

Networking: Perform as TCP/IP / Networking administrator for all aspects of Z system communications.

Z/vm Administration: Install and maintain operating systems, build and administer virtual Linux servers under Z/vm.

Documentation and Training: Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and policies.

Additional duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

Proficiency in storage management concepts and technologies, including DASD, DFSMS, and tape management systems.

Strong understanding of Z/OS hardware architecture, including IBM mainframes and peripherals.

Experience with system performance monitoring and tuning tools, such as RMF and WLM.

Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and in teams.

Knowledge in JES2, WLM, SMF, ICSF, DFSMS, ISPF, TSO, 3270, TCP/IP, SMPE ISH, and OMVS.

Experience with third-party software like Syspertec Virtel, Rocket TMON, and Chicago Soft QuickRef.

IBM Software including Tivoli Workload Scheduler, Fault Analyzer, File Manager, zSecure, DB2 Tools, and zLinux.

Education and Experience: A preferred candidate will have the equivalent of four years of college coursework in computer science and at least ten years of experience as a Z/OS admin or systems programmer in a large enterprise.
