The Active Aerodynamics Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) is responsible for the design, development, and validation of active aerodynamic systems such as Active Grille Shutters (AGS) and Active Air Dams (AADs). The DRE manages all aspects of Active Aerodynamics component design and validation, serving as the single point of contact throughout the component's lifecycle. Responsibilities include designing and engineering components, maintaining a bill of materials, releasing math data and drawings, creating and executing validation plans, overseeing testing, managing suppliers, issuing change notices, supporting vehicle builds, resolving issues, and supporting PPAP. Key Responsibilities
Develop and refine active aerodynamic systems considering quality, cost, timing, and performance objectives to meet targets. Interface with Vehicle Engineering, Suppliers, Purchasing, Quality, Assembly Plants, and others. Perform product release and change management processes. Coordinate packaging within the vehicle environment ensuring requirements are met. Oversee virtual and physical testing at component, system, and vehicle levels. Manage suppliers and extended teams. Support AQP, PSO, product launch, and ongoing maintenance of carryover products. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of issues. Conduct benchmarking, competitive analysis, and investigate new technologies. Assist in system integration and ensure proper functioning with surrounding components, network communications, and ECUs. Contribute to development of boundary diagrams, interface matrices, parameter diagrams, DFMEA, and DVPR. Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 3 years of engineering experience; more preferred. Demonstrated leadership, autonomous work ability, strong communication, positive attitude, willingness to learn, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail. Proficiency in engineering disciplines such as DVPR, DFMEA, etc. Experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Product Development, Mechatronics, or Aerodynamics. Experience in manufacturing vehicle components and assembly. Design and release experience with mechatronic components. Understanding of component and physical integration in vehicles. Knowledge of GD&T. Proficiency in CAD software such as TeamCenter Vis, NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks. Experience with electrical test benches for software integration. Experience with DFSS and reactive problem-solving tools. Knowledge of network communication protocols like CAN, LIN, Ethernet. Experience with calibration and diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA, Witech, CDA. Travel: 10-20%, including to assembly plants, suppliers, and test labs.
