Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Domestic Violence Advocate to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive support services to individuals affected by domestic violence, including crisis intervention, safety planning, resource referral, and emotional support. This role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed care and a commitment to advocating for survivors’ rights.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence
Conduct initial assessments and develop personalized service plans that align with each client’s unique needs and goals
Assist clients in accessing essential resources, including housing, legal assistance, medical care, counseling, and financial support
Accompany clients to court proceedings, law enforcement appointments, and other relevant services as needed
Collaborate with community partners, shelters, and other service providers to enhance support for clients
Educate clients about their rights and options, and empower them to make informed decisions regarding their safety and well-being
Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation in compliance with organizational and legal standards
Conduct outreach and awareness activities to promote services, educate the community, and support prevention initiatives
Stay informed on best practices in domestic violence advocacy and participate in ongoing training
Possibility to take the ICDVP Test within the first 2 years of employment
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum [X] years of experience working in domestic violence advocacy, crisis intervention, or a similar role preferred
Strong understanding of trauma-informed, client-centered approaches and cultural sensitivity
Excellent communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team and handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
Knowledge of local resources and legal requirements related to domestic violence is an asset
Proficiency in electronic records management systems preferred
40 Hour Domestic Violence State Certification is a Plus+
Travel to Agency related events, overnight occasionally
Crisis Hotline Rotation responsibilities
Arabic Speaking is Required (Spanish is a plus+)
