Job Description

Safeguard property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.

Enforce company rules, policies, and procedures and provide information and assistance, including general safety of employees, visitors, volunteers, and members of the public.

Act as guard in public areas of company and parking lots, greet and direct visitors, escort guests, answer general questions, and monitor parking lot to detect and prevent injurious acts.

Assist in maintaining order and security, report violations or problems to the company contract manager.

Visually inspect and count “company objects” on display in assigned areas to ensure nothing is damaged or defaced; complete check sheets and alert supervisors of irregularities.

Control visitor access through the company staff entrance, monitor alarms and closed‑circuit television systems, maintain logs, and dispatch radio calls efficiently.

Patrol company grounds (interior and exterior) inspecting for safety and security discrepancies; lock and unlock doors and gates, and control lights.

Respond to emergency calls and render assistance as needed; notify proper company staff or outside agencies as required.

Take reports and investigate incidents occurring on company property, coordinating with county authorities and local police.

Turn on lights at the beginning of each business day; permit entrance to employees, vendors, and authorized personnel.

Open and secure doors, vaults, and gates; check safes, security containers, and cabinets, and close windows.

Raise and lower all flags as prescribed; perform services during day and evening special events.

Maintain assigned post area in a neat and presentable appearance, picking up litter and notifying custodial services if required.

Document and turn in all items found on premises.

Ensure only authorized personnel access restricted areas by detaining and apprehending unidentified or unauthorized individuals.

Monitor alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment.

Immediately report hazardous conditions or items needing repair to the Safety Assistant.

Enforce package inspections and visually screen packages/parcels to secure against theft and prevent contraband introduction.

Qualifications

Mentally alert with good judgment and ability to implement instructions

Ability to speak, read, and write English

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written direction, and write accurate reports

Ability to monitor environmental and electronic security systems

Requirements Education & Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Licensing, Permits & Certifications

Valid California Driver’s License or ID card issued by DMV

First Aid and CPR training, current certification always on duty

Valid BSIS Guard Card

Physical & Mental Requirements

Full capability to perform security work requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion under normal or emergency conditions
