Senior Electrical Estimator – PJS Electric, Inc.

POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator in the Estimating / Pre-Construction Department of PJS Electric, Inc. and will lead complex bid development across a diverse project portfolio for electrical construction and utility infrastructure projects. This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and hands‑on proficiency and will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to continuous improvement of our estimating workflows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Estimating & Bid Strategy
Prepare detailed cost estimates for bid-build and design-build projects, including labor, materials, and subcontractor scopes
Leverage Accubid Anywhere for takeoffs, assemblies, and database management; customize items and pricing for project‑specific needs
Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to ensure full scope coverage and identify potential gaps or risks
Coordinate with Bid Administrator to solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes
Develop bid packages, instructions to bidders, and scope clarifications for submission
Project Turnover & Collaboration
Assemble comprehensive Operational Turnover Packages upon award, including cost codes, budgets, and compliance documentation
Work with Project Managers and Field Operations to ensure seamless transition from preconstruction to execution
Support change order pricing and scope adjustments throughout the project lifecycle
Data Management & Strategic Input
Maintain and refine estimating databases in Accubid Anywhere, including historical cost data and custom assemblies
Provide pricing insights and market analysis to executive leadership for go/no‑go decisions
Assist in fulfilling DBE/MBE participation goals and documentation for public bids
Team & Vendor Engagement
Mentor junior estimators and support ongoing training in estimating tools and best practices
Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed
KEY REQUIREMENTS
B.S. in Electrical Engineering
7-10 years of experience in estimating for an electrical contractor
Fluent in Accubid Anywhere, for takeoffs, optimizing databases, assemblies, and pricing strategies.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment where precision, collaboration, and strategic thinking are key.
Proactive mindset to mentoring, process improvement, and cross‑departmental coordination
