Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Sales Estimator responsible for leading the estimating and proposal process for commercial electrical projects. This role combines technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and strategic sales acumen to secure profitable work and support the company’s growth objectives. The Senior Sales Estimator will evaluate project scopes, prepare accurate cost estimates, build strong customer relationships, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver competitive, high-quality bids.
Key Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and related documents to determine scope of work.
Develop detailed and accurate takeoffs, cost estimates, and labor projections for commercial electrical work.
Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes; negotiate pricing and terms where needed.
Identify project risks, value‑engineering options, and cost‑saving opportunities to maximize profitability.
Prepare bid packages, proposals, and scope letters for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Participate in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and client consultations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, and repeat clients.
Respond to bid invitations, RFPs, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Present proposals and estimates to clients and support follow‑up discussions and negotiations.
Collaborate with Business Development and Operations teams to align estimating goals with company strategy.
Lead handoff meetings with project management to ensure clarity of scope and assumptions for awarded projects.
Provide mentorship to junior estimators and help develop/improve estimating tools, templates, and workflows.
Qualifications
5–10+ years of electrical estimating experience – especially in commercial or industrial construction.
Strong working knowledge of NEC, electrical systems, installation methods, and commercial electrical standards.
Proficiency with estimating software (IntelliBid/Accubid).
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
Strong math, analytical, and organizational abilities.
Track record of securing and supporting profitable projects.
Pay range: $100,000–$150,000 (based on experience).
