We are seeking a Developer on IBM i Power Systems (AS400) to work on-site in our Detroit office. Must be well versed in RPG including RPG3 and ILE. Expert with internal and external printer files and database files.
Responsibilities:
Expertise in Control Language programming. Knowledge of IBM products such as Query and SDA, with a working knowledge of FTP, DDM, and Stream Files. Proficiency in SQL, including both Interactive and RPGILE, and experience with non-IBM products like DBU and Hawkeye. Understanding of SDLC process with practical project management experience. Gathering user requirements, authoring design documents, and developing technical plans. Project planning and quality assurance, including formal test plans. Authoring user documentation and conducting end-user training. Expertise with DB2/400 and troubleshooting database performance issues. Knowledge of system performance tuning, PTF, and release upgrades is desirable. Familiarity with iSeries hardware such as printers and tape drives. Requirements:
Self-starter, highly motivated, well-organized. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate with other departments and work independently. Experience working with third-party consultants and software vendors. Ability to quickly identify technical issues, develop and execute action plans, and measure success. Knowledge of Lawson financial software is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook. Familiarity with Visual Source Safe is desirable. Open to on-call responsibilities.
