Senior Network Engineer
Job Description
Deliver senior-level network engineering expertise under a Federal Government client, focusing on the design, implementation, and operation of Cisco Switched Networks and cloud environments at an agency-wide scope. Apply experience with proxy servers, firewalls, domain servers, data traffic, and cybersecurity technologies. Work independently to meet client technical deliverables. Required Skills
Experience in network and telecommunications system administration in Federal Government environments. Certifications in Cisco Networking, Firewall Security, and Proxy Servers. Expertise in Cisco switch diagnostics and management software. Experience with physical and virtual IT infrastructure. Proven ability in planning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, training, and maintenance of hardware/software, cybersecurity, load balancing, and routing strategies. Design and migration experience for IPv6 from IPv4. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS and server infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS, and security zones. Ability to produce technical documentation and briefings. Strong organizational, time-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Desired Skills
Experience with: Cisco Server Hardware NetApp Storage Network Configuration and Security Protocols VSANs and VMWare/Virtualization VMWare ESXi 6.x Network Traffic Optimization Cloud Management (AWS, Azure) SAN Storage Technologies Veeam and cloud backups RDS Terminal Servers Monitoring tools like Splunk, SolarWinds, SIEM Job Duties
Serve as SME for network operations, managing security and operational design changes. Maintain network/system configuration documentation. Coordinate with vendors for service restoration and management. Plan and execute hardware/software installation, testing, and maintenance. Support enterprise architecture and compliance efforts. Manage network upgrades ensuring FISMA/FIPS compliance. Design and implement IPv6 migration. Maintain firewall/router configurations (Barracuda, Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.). Load balance network/system resources and ensure security protocols. Support VPN, VoIP, and WiFi services. Monitor security logs and troubleshoot hardware/software issues. Develop disaster recovery documentation and support continuity plans. Lead network security projects and ensure NIST/FISMA compliance. Maintain SOPs and partner with stakeholders on project planning and updates. Experience and Education
Minimum five years in IT enterprise infrastructure support. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited institution. Work Location
