The Role
As the Legal Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring legal operations run smoothly and efficiently. You’ll support attorneys across a range of responsibilities, from document drafting to client communication to court filing logistics. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-driven, and thrives in a high-performance legal setting.
Responsibilities
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and reports
- File legal documents with state and federal courts—electronically and in person as needed
- Manage complex calendars and schedules for attorneys, including court dates and client meetings
- Coordinate communications with clients, courts, vendors, and opposing counsel
- Maintain and organize case files, legal records, and databases
- Conduct light legal research and assist with trial or case preparation
- Anticipate attorney needs and contribute to case progress with minimal oversight
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm setting
- Deep understanding of legal terminology, formatting, and South Carolina court procedures
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong communication skills—professional, clear, and composed
- Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and legal case management software
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification preferred but not required
