Base pay range $22.00/hr - $25.00/hr Accounting Assistant Location: Woodbury, NY Type: Onsite | Temp-to-Perm Pay Rate: $22–$25/hour Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support daily financial operations. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and delivering timely, accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and post daily journal entries to general ledger accounts Reconcile client general ledger and suspense accounts Research and resolve discrepancies in financial records Monitor daily settlement activity and ensure accurate balances Generate reconciliation summaries and reports for clients Participate in client calls to discuss reconciliation items Respond to inquiries from internal teams and external stakeholders Communicate progress and any issues to management Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience) 1+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or credit Working knowledge of general accounting principles (e.g., debits, credits, journal entries) Experience with account reconciliation and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Effective verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Let me know if you'd like a version tailored to a specific industry, company, or audience.
