Position Function

Serves as a part‑time research assistant for the Experimental Seafood Processing Lab.

Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.

Coastal Research and Extension Center is located in Biloxi, MS and is the 'southern exposure' for Mississippi State University.

Anticipated Appointment Date

February 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct related literature reviews
  2. Collect and analyze experimental data
  3. Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor
  4. Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
  5. Prepare research reports, and presentations
  6. Perform related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with specialized software or datasets, as required by the supervisor
  • Academic and/or work experience related to the field of research
  • Knowledge of research methods
  • Excellent time management skills

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
  2. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.

Position is contingent upon continued availability of funding.
