Job Summary
The Customer Service Supervisor is responsible for supervising all functions of the airline's customer service operations, including auditing flight paperwork, completing personnel evaluations on leads and trainers, coordinating the handling of OJI, ensuring compliance with safety policies, attending safety and team meetings, handling all location personnel functions, and serving as liaison with airline customers and local airport authorities.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitoring and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment
- Reporting discrepancies that may exist in both the functional and mechanical aspects of ground support equipment
- Coordinating between each assigned carrier to ensure that cargo and baggage service meets carrier needs and on‑time schedules are met
- Ensuring equipment is safe and operating efficiently
- Collaborating with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities across departments
- Determining manpower requirements and conducting disciplinary procedures fairly, timely, and consistently
- Maintaining attendance and tardiness standards
- Performing well under pressure and within fixed time constraints
- Reading and interpreting aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials labels, aircraft loading manifests, and baggage routing tags
- Following all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations
- Ensuring crews are briefed before flights about positions to take and flight operations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Strong understanding of airline customer service
- Experience in the airport ground handling industry
- Computer experience of at least 6 months and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to navigate electronic devices (phones, computers, fax machines, printers, time clock, etc.)
- Proven track record in supervising a business unit
- Experience in operational planning and resource allocation
- Working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues
- Understanding of commercial issues in aviation
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Ability to process information in a timely manner
- Valid driver's license
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English
- Basic computer literacy
- Previous ramp or airline experience
- Completion of all required training and ongoing certification maintenance
- FBI fingerprint background check clearance
- Completion of all required training
Physical Requirements
- Physically fit to perform duties such as standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively in confined spaces
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to loud noises
- Flexibility to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations
