FBM is seeking a highly skilled SAP Manufacturing Functional Consultant to lead the design, implementation, enhancement, and support of SAP solutions in Production Planning (PP), Quality Management (QM), Plant Maintenance (PM), and Variant Configuration (VC), with a primary focus on discrete manufacturing processes.
This role will ensure the seamless integration of BOMs (Bills of Material), routings, product configuration, and manufacturing workflows with other SAP modules such as MM, SD, and FICO. The consultant will play a critical role in developing scalable and efficient production and quality processes while ensuring compliance with SAP best practices and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess 6-8 years of SAP PP, QM, and PM experience, with hands-on expertise in Variant Configuration (VC), a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, and familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud (preferred).
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning (PP): Design and configure production planning processes, including
discrete manufacturing workflows
such as
make-to-stock, make-to-order, and assembly-to-order
environments. Develop and maintain
BOMs (Bills of Material)
and
routings , ensuring accuracy and alignment with production processes. Configure
capacity planning , production scheduling, and shop floor control to optimize production efficiency and resource utilization. Integrate material availability with production planning to ensure seamless workflows between MM and PP modules. Quality Management (QM): Implement and maintain
inspection planning, quality notifications, and quality certificates
to ensure compliance with quality standards. Configure in-process, final, and goods receipt inspections to enable proactive quality control. Streamline processes for handling quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. Plant Maintenance (PM): Design and implement processes for
preventive and corrective maintenance planning
to ensure minimal equipment downtime. Configure maintenance notifications, work orders, and equipment hierarchies for effective plant maintenance management. Develop KPIs and reporting tools to monitor equipment performance and maintenance efficiency. SAP Variant Configuration (VC): Configure and maintain SAP VC models to enable
customizable product configurations
in discrete manufacturing. Develop
characteristics, classes, and dependencies
to support product variations based on customer and production requirements. Optimize VC logic to improve efficiency in managing product variants and ensure seamless integration with SD and PP modules. Enable dynamic BOMs and routings using dependencies in VC to handle complex production scenarios. Integration with other modules: Align production planning and inventory management processes with
SD (Sales and Distribution)
for customer-driven manufacturing. Integrate manufacturing processes with
FICO
for real-time costing, variance analysis, and production order settlement. Work closely with MM for material master management, procurement of raw materials, and stock handling. BOM and routings management: Maintain
multi-level BOMs
to support complex manufacturing structures, including phantom assemblies and configurable materials. Develop
routings
to define production sequences, work centers, and operation times, ensuring optimal resource allocation. Manage changes to BOMs and routings, ensuring version control and alignment with engineering updates. Testing and validation: Conduct rigorous testing phases, including
unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) , ensuring all configurations meet operational standards. Validate SAP configurations and custom developments for scalability, reliability, and compliance with business needs. End-user training and documentation: Provide detailed training to end-users on production, quality, and maintenance processes, ensuring smooth adoption of SAP solutions. Develop user manuals, training materials, and SOPs to support ongoing system utilization and process improvements. Performance optimization: Monitor system performance, implement upgrades and patches, and fine-tune configurations to ensure SAP PP, QM, PM, and VC modules operate efficiently. Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements to improve manufacturing operations. Troubleshooting and support: Provide expert-level support to identify and resolve issues related to production planning, quality control, and maintenance workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot integration issues and ensure end-to-end process stability. Reporting and analytics: Develop advanced reporting tools to monitor
production performance, quality metrics, and maintenance KPIs , leveraging SAP standard reports and custom queries. Enable real-time visibility into manufacturing operations through SAP Fiori apps and analytics dashboards. Stay informed on SAP advancements: Leverage the latest features of
SAP S/4HANA , particularly in manufacturing-related functionalities, to drive innovation and efficiency. Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in SAP PP, QM, PM, and VC configurations for discrete manufacturing processes. Strong understanding of BOMs, routings, and variant configuration logic. Hands-on experience in
integration with MM, SD, and FICO modules . Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud solutions is a significant plus. Proficiency in capacity planning, shop floor control, and production scheduling. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing complex manufacturing scenarios. Strong communication and collaboration skills for engaging with stakeholders across functional teams. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines. Education/Experience/Training
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. 6-8 years of hands-on experience with SAP PP, QM, PM, and VC implementations and support. Proven expertise in SAP configurations for manufacturing processes and integration with other modules. SAP certification in PP, QM, PM, or S/4HANA is preferred but not required.
