Summary This position is an RN responsible for providing direct care to patients living with diabetes and their caregivers seen in the hospital and any out‑patient clinic where these patients are seen under the care of a Cook clinical provider. This person enhances the quality of patient care by providing specialized diabetic education, in‑service, and continuing education programs for patients/families and the nursing staff.
Education
BSN preferred
Three years clinical experience; pediatric preferred
Organizational and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of the principles of endocrine nursing
Certification/Licensure
Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas
Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES; formerly Certified Diabetes Educator CDE) eligible preferred, with certification expected after 3 years in role
