Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management and deadline‑meeting skills are essential. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What Is an Occupancy Verification? The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Most common type of inspection should only take 5‑6 minutes.
Complete the inspection within 4 days after it is assigned.
Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with an internet connection.
Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.
Pay & Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of
$30‑$40 per hour . This work is consistent month‑to‑month; prevailing volume ranges from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2‑30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates and higher volume counties have lower rates.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
