Quality Control Manager (Structural Steel Fabrication)

By directing plant-level QC operations, supporting audits, and driving compliance across major infrastructure projects, this role directly impacts safety, reliability, and overall production performance. Your leadership will help maintain best‑in‑class fabrication quality across a high‑output environment.
Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day QC operations and supervise QC Inspectors
Conduct weld and fit‑up inspections, coordinate NDT testing, and maintain all quality documentation
Manage welder certifications and support ongoing project requirements
Prepare for and support AISC audits
Coordinate with DOT inspectors, customer engineers, project managers, and production teams
Lead quality meetings and resolve escalated customer or project issues
Required
CWI or ASNT VT Level II certification
5+ years of QC leadership experience in steel fabrication/heavy manufacturing
Strong blueprint reading ability and familiarity with welding/NDT processes
Skilled in documentation, communication, and cross‑functional coordination
Proven experience managing inspectors or QC teams
