Mid-Level MuleSoft Developer Location: Remote (Occasional travel to DOT HQ – Washington, DC)
Clearance: Ability to Obtain Public Trust (existing Public Trust preferred)
Overview PBG is seeking a Mid-Level MuleSoft Developer to support the U.S. Department of Transportation’s enterprise modernization initiative to build a Unified Grants Lifecycle Management System and Grants Transparency Dashboard. The MuleSoft Developer will design and optimize the API-first integration layer connecting Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS) with DOT’s legacy grant, financial, and external systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain MuleSoft APIs using API‑led integration (System, Process, Experience layers).
Build secure integrations with DOT systems including Oracle Financials, Grants.gov, SAM.gov, USASpending.gov, and legacy OA systems.
Develop connectors, DataWeave transformations, and reusable integration assets.
Support ETL activities for data migration including mapping, cleansing, transformation, and reconciliation.
Implement data exchange patterns supporting real‑time or scheduled syncs.
Apply FISMA, FedRAMP, 2 CFR 200, and DOT security compliance standards.
Configure monitoring, audit logging, OAuth, mTLS, and role‑based access controls.
Participate in architecture reviews and ensure alignment with DOT enterprise data models.
Troubleshoot complex integration issues, apply performance tuning, and optimize error‑handling strategies.
Support Agile ceremonies, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and integration testing.
Develop technical design documents, sequence diagrams, and interface specifications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
4+ years of MuleSoft development on Anypoint Platform.
Experience with API‑led design using RAML, DataWeave, and Anypoint Studio.
Strong experience integrating with Salesforce via REST, SOAP, Bulk API, and Platform Events.
Experience integrating with ERP/financial systems such as Oracle.
Knowledge of OAuth, TLS, mTLS, encryption, and secure API design.
Experience with message queues and event‑driven architectures.
Ability to obtain Public Trust.
Preferred Qualifications
MuleSoft Certified Developer – Level 1 (MCD)
Experience in federal/public sector enterprise modernization projects.
Experience with Salesforce Public Sector Solutions (PSS).
Familiarity with 2 CFR 200, federal grant lifecycle processes, or DOT grants domain.
Experience working in FedRAMP‑authorized cloud environments.
Experience with Splunk, CloudHub 2.0, API Manager, and runtime monitoring.
Preferred Skills
Advanced DataWeave transformation expertise.
Familiarity with human‑centered design and usability standards.
Understanding of Salesforce DTC architecture/governance.
Experience with Agile/Scrum environments and cross‑functional collaboration.
