Purpose
The Cloud Platform Engineer supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure that powers business-critical applications. This role focuses on day-to-day platform operations, infrastructure automation, monitoring, deployment workflows, and supporting cloud-native and traditional workloads.
Working under the guidance of senior engineers and cloud leadership, the Cloud Platform Engineer helps build and enhance infrastructure using modern cloud tooling, Infrastructure-as-Code, container technologies, and CI/CD automation. The engineer contributes to platform reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements across the organization's AWS environment.
This position is ideal for a cloud engineering professional who has foundational experience and is ready to develop deeper expertise in platform engineering, automation, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud operations.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent professional experience in cloud engineering, systems engineering, or DevOps will be considered.
Years of Experience in Related Field
2-5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
Hands-on experience supporting cloud infrastructure or application environments.
Exposure to production systems and structured operational processes.

AWS Solutions Architect - Associate (plus)
Terraform Associate (plus)
Kubernetes fundamentals or introductory certifications (plus)
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and/or Competencies Required
Understanding of cloud architecture principles across compute, networking, storage, identity, and security
Practical experience with AWS services including RDS, EKS, Route 53, VPC, Transit Gateway, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Systems Manager
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
Experience working with CI/CD workflows using version-controlled pipeline definitions (pipeline-as-code, automated validation, runner-based execution)
Basic to intermediate scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
Experience administering Linux systems and exposure to Windows Server administration
General understanding of monitoring, logging, dashboards, metrics, and alerting
Experience working with relational databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server
Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, network, and infrastructure layers
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within technical teams
Preferred
Experience supporting containerized applications or Kubernetes workloads, preferably Amazon EKS
Experience with multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations or AWS Control Tower
Experience implementing security best practices and working with IAM access patterns
Exposure to compliance-driven or regulated environments such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST
Experience assisting developers with environment-related code issues (Python, Node.js, PHP, etc.)
Job Duties
Infrastructure Operations & Support: Assist in deploying, managing, and supporting cloud infrastructure and container workloads across AWS environments.
Automation & IaC: Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code templates (Terraform or CloudFormation) with guidance from senior team members.
CI/CD Pipeline Support: Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD workflows using pipeline-as-code practices and automated testing/validation.
Monitoring & Observability: Help maintain monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerting frameworks that support reliability and incident response.
Database & Application Support: Support operational health and maintenance of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server databases. Assist development teams with environment-level debugging.
Security & Compliance: Implement least-privilege configurations and follow organizational cloud security practices.
Documentation: Create and update runbooks, infrastructure documentation, and technical procedures.
Continuous Improvement: Identify efficiencies, automation opportunities, and improvements that increase platform reliability and team effectiveness.
