Position Shipping & Receiving Supervisor – 2nd shift (3 pm to 11 pm). The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for supervising day‑to‑day operations of shipping, receiving, material handling and local dispatch.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise all shipping/receiving functions and personnel.
Supervise and dispatch local cartage drivers to complete tasks as efficiently as possible.
Verify receipt of all materials, audit packing lists and shipping documents.
Prepare finished loads for shipment, including documents, labeling, staging, and record‑keeping.
Assist in maintaining warehouse cleanliness and facility security.
Track incoming material shipments for on‑time delivery as needed.
Perform various office functions; driver check‑in, paperwork, carton labels and flags, etc.
Update inventory records in the SG360 data collection system.
Assist in training new personnel.
Accurately communicate shift details/notes to other supervisors and manager.
Coordinate and process FedEx/UPS outbound shipments.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Experience
3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing, or shipping and receiving required.
Or at least 10 years’ experience in relevant field(s).
Requirements
Strong supervisory skills with ability to mentor and motivate team members.
Comprehensive multitasking required with excellent detail and follow‑through.
Above average English oral and written communication skills; bi‑lingual Spanish a plus.
Excellent technological aptitude, including RF scanners, typing and computer skills, as well as MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must possess full range of motor/motion skills in all body areas.
May be exposed to hot/humid and/or duty work environment.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Experience in operating warehouse equipment; lift trucks, wrappers, dock plates, etc.
Skillfully generate and understand common shipping documents.
Solid knowledge of Chicago‑area geography, roads, and traffic patterns.
Awareness and understanding of NMFC rules and regulations.
Printing/Finishing/Mailing industry experience a plus!
