Job Summary Battelle's Advanced Mission Solutions Business Line, we are currently seeking a Program Manager in the Systems Development, Modernization, and Prototyping Division (SDMP). This position is located at NSWC CRANE, Indiana. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to lead a critical research and development initiative focused on advancing energy solutions for defense applications. This role involves managing projects aimed at extending component lifecycles, integrating state‑of‑the‑art technology, and enhancing power and energy systems for various military platforms including missiles, shipboard, and aircraft systems.

This position is contingent on program award.

Responsibilities

Project Management: Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of specific short‑term and long‑term projects related to energy solutions for defense applications.

Team Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technical staff to reach project goals. Ensure efficient cooperation and dialogue within the team and with external stakeholders.

R&D Oversight: Govern the research and development process, including the evaluation of technological gaps, development of advanced energy storage and integration solutions, and enhancement of the capabilities to meet emerging defense subsystems.

Lifecycle Management: Conduct quick‑reaction assessments and extensive engineering assessments for a total life cycle management of energy systems. From concept to deployment and operational support.

Technology Evaluation: Appraise essential enabling technologies for their appropriateness in particular energy applications inside defense systems. Guide the research and analysis efforts to specify and integrate present solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement: Acting as the main point of contact for all project stakeholders, including government agencies, subcontractors, and project sponsors. Ensure that all party is aligned with the project objectives and timelines.

Budget and Resource Allocation: Develop and govern the project budget. Assign resources effectively to guarantee project milestones are met within budget constraints.

Reporting and Documentation: Create comprehensive reports and presentations for senior solutions and governmental officials. Record all stages of the project life cycle and make sure compliance with industry standards and government regulations.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a engineering, physics, or a related field. Advanced degree (master’s or PhD) preferred.

Minimum of 10 years expertr in program management, specifically in R&D projects linked to power generation, battery & energy system, micro-eleg

Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent project management skills, with a real record of managing complex R&D projects.

Strong understanding of energy systems, including energy storage, power generation, and system integration.

Familiarity with DoD critical technological areas, such as microelectronics, space technology, renewable energy, directed energy, and hypersonics.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface efficiently in various stakeholders.

Proficiency in project management software and tools.

PM Certification or DAU Level II/III Program Management qualification.

Proven capability to integrate a variety of technical disciplines into a solution to fulfill client requirements.

Excellent business acumen and ability to find or attempt problems and issues efficiently and distressingly.

Proven ability to lead others in the achievement of goals, through roles of increasing responsibility, demostration greater control over teams, and excellence by initiative, innovation and vision.

Displayed success ensuring that a range of various activities (technical, business development, and administrative) are done timely and with a high figure.

Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.

Demonstrated excellence in building and supported a team.

Capable of traveling domestic up to 10% annually.

Sole US Citizen with a current DoD Secret clearance and way to obtain TS/SCI.

Preferred Qualifications

15+ years leading teams in program execution and or progress of power generation, battery development and battery management systems, energy storage & management systems in an operational environment.

Current experience with battery testing and certification under Naval Sea Systems Command Instruction 9310.1C.

Experience working on DoD projects with NSWC Crane's Special Warfare & Expeditionary Systems Power and Energy Division (JXM).
