Description
The Operations Assistants are responsible for providing logistical support for the AMFS orchestras, chamber ensembles, the Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS program, and special events. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Operations Assistants also provide general support for all Operations Department projects.
Responsibilities
Manage and track AMFS Gift in Kind donations from local vendors.
Assist the Director of Operations and Concessions Manager with Lemonade Stand support as needed.
Oversee the AMFS key inventory for both campuses.
Provide production support for student chamber music performances.
Assist with program delivery to AMFS performance venues.
Work with the Manager of Personnel to rent and coordinate instrument rentals for AMFS students.
Assist the Manager of Personnel with the coordination and running of orchestra placement auditions at the beginning of the season.
Serve as the Orchestra Manager for special projects throughout the season that require a large student ensemble.
Serve as the Orchestra Manager for the AMFS Percussion Ensemble.
Assist with tracking operations expenses, compiling credit card receipts, and reconciling statements.
Assist the AMFS production teams, percussion crew, and piano technicians as needed.
Assist with rides for students and faculty to rehearsals or events as needed.
Other related duties as necessary.
There are 3 Operations Assistants positions available for the 2026 season.
Requirements
Background in classical music, and/or experience in arts or school administration required.
Excellent customer service, organizational and administrative skills, and multi-tasking capabilities required.
Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under high pressure.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite, operating printers, and shared drives. Basic computer skills required. Production coordination experience is a strong plus. Experience with ArtsVision is preferred but not required. Training will be provided as necessary.
Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license for the summer of 2026 is required. A DMV background check will be conducted for candidates hired.
Dates Pre-season remote: April 6,2026 - June 14, 2026. 10 weeks at 10 hrs/week (only one Operations Assistant will be needed for pre-season work)
Season: June 10 or 15, 2026 - August 25, 2026 (one Operations Assistant will start June 10, two will start June 15)
Compensation $13.50/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $5.16/hour depending on location.) Overtime $22.74/hour
The overall non-local compensation for this position, including hourly pay ($13.50/hour) and housing ($5.16/hour), exceeds the 2026 Colorado minimum wage of $15.16.
Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
