Overview The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), (Sr. Dir.), will assist the Southeast Market CNO in executive-level management of nursing resources, strategic planning, and high-quality care at Sentara Norfolk General and Sentara Heart Hospitals. The main areas of responsibility are medical and surgical units, intensive care unit, intermediate care unit, emergency services, maternal-child health, and the staffing office. The ACNO will support the Market CNO with operationalizing quality and safety initiatives, workforce planning and retention initiatives, using high reliability structures and processes to improve outcomes and reduce variation, meeting regulatory requirements (e.g.: DNV ISO/NIAHO, CMS Conditions of Participation, state health profession boards, etc.), leading transformation and process improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma, Lean Daily Management, and providing leadership for units/departments financial operations (e.g.: planning, expense management, productivity, etc.). The ACNO will partner and collaborate with other CNOs and market clinical leaders to ensure alignment of strategic initiatives and operational outcomes (clinical, financial), to include achieving recognitions/designations (e.g. Magnet/Beacon) and represent nursing by participating on market and system task forces, councils, and committees. The ACNO will develop the knowledge, leadership, professionalism, and business skills necessary to advance to a division CNO.

Education

BSN (Required)

Masters in Nursing or Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

Registered Nurse, single state VA, or multi state/compact license (Required)
