The Safety Manager ensures the maximum safety performance and awareness of everyone associated with the company by overseeing the administration of all safety and health policies and procedures established in the Conti Safety, Health and Environmental Program.
This is a field-based role with frequent travel to project sites. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment operations, and active construction environments.
Responsibilities
Develop, lead and manage project safety programs for heavy civil projects including road, bridge, and utility construction. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans (SSSP) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). Oversee and ensure compliance with federal, state and OSHA regulations, and all aspects of the SSHP Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and coaching to field staff, subcontractors, and project teams. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions. Collaborate with project management and supervision to plan safe work methods, traffic control plans, and utility protection measures. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, and incident investigations. Serve as a resource and mentor to foremen, superintendents, and workers on best safety practices. Coordinate with occupational physicians regarding employee injuries, work status, and employee appointments. Documents the case in detail until the employee is fully released. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Five or more years of relevant Safety and Health experience in the construction industry Excellent leadership skills Certified or pursuing certification as a Construction Health and Safety Technologist (CHST) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST). Has developed and delivered OSHA, DOT, and EPA Required Training. Working knowledge of Safety and Health Standards and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and how to apply them to specific task/ activities. Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must. Strong analytical and interpersonal capabilities. Has a solid time management system and demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
