Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanic, Heavy Duty and Diesel with a positive, professional, and can‑do attitude. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining heavy equipment such as cranes, bulldozers, motor graders, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools. Duties include inspecting machinery to identify defects, performing disassembly and reassembly with hoists and hand tools, replacing defective components, welding broken parts, and testing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Typical Duties

Maintain equipment across wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.

Accomplish minor repairs and perform services outlined in technical manuals.

Inspect and repair brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.

Follow technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics for accurate diagnosis and repair during annual services.

Perform major repair jobs by disassembling, cleaning parts, and reinstalling assemblies.

Maintain operational vehicle maintenance schedules.

Prepare and maintain reports on schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, employee documentation, time‑keeping, and accident reports.

Train employees on job tasks and assignments to ensure thorough understanding.

Monitor employee performance for efficient use of time and task completion.

Coach, mentor, and resolve employee concerns respectfully and mutually beneficially.

Record daily personnel attendance and track absences, tardiness, and related metrics.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.

5‑8 years of automotive experience.

ASE certification in the process of testing for ASE certification.

Valid CDL Class B required for moving vehicles around the shop area.

Ability to pass DOT pre‑employment drug screen and physical.

Knowledgeable in maintenance of military vehicles and equipment.

Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals for proper diagnosis and repair.

Ability to troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.

Physical Requirements

Lift 50 pounds and push or pull up to 70 pounds.

Reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.

Stand or sit for several hours, climb in and out of vehicles, and ascend or descend stairs.

Persevere under pressure for extended periods.

Additional Requirements

Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.

REAL ID‑compliant driver’s license, U.S. passport, or military ID for access to federal military installations.

Obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access; background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
