Experienced Human Resources Generalist – Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) Join a strategic, trusted insurance partner that provides a broad range of commercial property, casualty and specialty insurance coverages and outstanding service to customers and brokers around the world. As part of the North America HR Team based in Boston, you will roll up your sleeves to deliver high‑touch HR support across the entire teammate life cycle, from onboarding to off‑boarding, and contribute to a people‑centric culture of excellence and collaboration. Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver a dynamic new‑hire onboarding experience and facilitate weekly New Hire orientation focused on BHSI culture & values. Support and manage the full teammate life cycle: offer to acceptance, onboarding, changes, promotions, compensation adjustments, organizational updates, and off‑boarding. Responsibilities include creating and delivering offer letters, initiating and monitoring background checks, verifying employment documentation (I9/E‑Verify), coordinating promotional and compensation adjustments, and developing exit guides. Coordinate all aspects of our Benefits program for North American teammates, including benefits changes, question support for health, dental, disability, life, AD&D & 401(k) coverages, carrier liaison, and issue resolution. Maintain data accuracy across HR systems in partnership with Payroll and HR Operations. Coordinate and monitor quarterly payroll reporting needs: PTO usage, overtime, and ad‑hoc reports. Process tuition reimbursement requests under the tuition reimbursement program. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements in the U.S. Drive operational excellence, identify efficiencies, and lead process improvement initiatives. Own team collateral: HR team intranet page, teammate and manager guides, templates, orientation programming, and related materials. Participate in regional and global projects as needed to support the larger Human Resources People Agenda. Qualifications, Skills & Experience
At least 7 years of progressive Human Resources Generalist experience across all disciplines. Hands‑on benefits experience, including managing paid and state‑funded leaves (plus). Property & Casualty insurance experience (plus). Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other HRIS systems. Advanced Excel proficiency – comfortable creating and maintaining spreadsheets. Excellent administrative and organizational skills; detail oriented and focused on excellence. Advanced communication skills, including presentation and training facilitation experience. Confidence, professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. Ability to collaborate, bring teams together, and influence others. Benefits
