Join AccessHR, Inc. to bring cutting‑edge artificial intelligence and data architecture strategies to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The role supports the development and maintenance of CMS’s enterprise and project‑level data architecture, ensuring alignment with CMS’s Enterprise Architecture and Data Management policies.
Clearance and Citizenship Requirements:

Position Summary Full‑time, Mid‑ to Senior‑Level AI/ML & Data Architect. Contribute to architectural artifacts, data modeling, metadata management, governance practices, and the integration of AI/LLM technologies within CMS’s Enterprise Architecture.
Primary Responsibilities
Document data and technical policies, standards, and procedures.
Prepare and deliver customer presentations and briefings.
Design and maintain logical and conceptual data models supporting CMS enterprise and project initiatives.
Collaborate with the Chief Enterprise Architect on AI, Enterprise and Data Architecture, and Technical Reference Architecture.
Support data integration and AI/LLM evolution within the organization’s Enterprise Architecture.
Create data architecture products such as data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, and canonical data models for modernization and interoperability.
Work with CMS stakeholders to identify data requirements and align them with enterprise standards.
Ensure compliance with CMS EA Framework, including integration with CEDAR and support for the CMS Business Reference Model (BRM) and Information Reference Model (IRM).
Support metadata and master data management initiatives with the Enterprise Data Group (EDG).
Provide technical advice on AI, Machine Learning, HPC, containerization, dynamic scaling, blockchain, and other advanced technologies.
Offer architectural guidance for data integration, sharing, interoperability, and data quality best practices.
Education, Certifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering/Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Required Experience
3+ years in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.
5+ years in data architecture, data modeling, or enterprise data design.
Hands‑on experience designing and maintaining logical and conceptual data models, including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, and data models.
Experience designing and managing enterprise‑level data infrastructure (databases, data warehouses, data lakes) and developing blueprints/frameworks for data storage, integration, and access across large organizations.
Experience with relational and non‑relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Practical experience integrating disparate data sources and supporting data modernization and interoperability initiatives.
Experience in developing and documenting data‑related policies, standards, and procedures aligned with enterprise and federal requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with data modeling tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Prolaborate, IBM Data Architect, or ERwin.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as FEAF, ArchiMate, or DODAF.
Understanding of CMS data domains, healthcare data standards, or government data governance practices (preferred).
Knowledge of federal data strategy and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA).
Familiarity with ETL tools and data integration platforms.
Understanding of data analytics and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
Prefer experience supporting the integration of AI and LLMs into enterprise data architectures, including prompt engineering and ethical/legal considerations.
Preferred Experience
Certifications such as CDMP, TOGAF, and cloud provider credentials.
Experience with CMS data assets, including those governed by the EDG or accessible through CMS’s CEDAR repository.
Compensation Salary Range: $120,000.00 – $180,000.00 (commensurate with experience, qualifications, and role demands).
