FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full-time or supplemental income and enjoy a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required but an ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.
What is an Occupancy Verification? Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties; the purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only. About 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.
Responsibilities
Complete inspections within 4 days after assignment, typically taking 5-6 minutes.
Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
Take 9+ photos with brief comments.
Complete a short form in an app.
Spend extended periods of time driving while making numerous stops in the assigned territory.
Requirements
Computer with internet connection.
Reliable vehicle with good gas mileage (you pay your own gas).
Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
Printer.
Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
Pay and Hours This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate; rates vary by county and volume. You can earn the equivalent of $30-$40 per hour. Depending on the county (urban or rural), you can complete anywhere from 20-500 inspections per month while working 2-30 hours per week. There is no set number of inspections per month; work is consistent month-to-month. Earn more by becoming established, having greater availability, or covering a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
