Description The Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies requests applications for a tenure‑track, full‑time associate or assistant professor position. The Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master of Science programs have three tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), and Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). The Bachelor of Science program began in fall 2021. The School also offers a Master of Science in Cardiovascular Sciences and Perfusion Medicine. Courses are offered throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction to Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Nursing Practice students

Demonstrate competence in teaching

Review and update syllabi; ensure materials are current on the learning management system (Canvas)

Instruct, develop, distribute, monitor, and grade student assignments and assessments independently

Create innovative curricula using experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory

Participate in curriculum development, design, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the program

Attend and participate in faculty governance, departmental, and university meetings

Engage in community service beyond faculty requirements

Engage in lifelong learning through professional and faculty development

Demonstrate progressive participation and leadership in national/international professional organizations

Fulfill scholarly activity requirements for promotion and tenure (grant writing, publications, presentations)

Participate in university‑wide and community admission/recruitment events

Participate in the student application process

Provide advisement to and address the needs of students

Maintain clinical/professional experience in accreditation for undergraduate and graduate programs (CCNE, AC‑PE)

Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing, required; doctoral degree preferred

Active New York Registered Nurse license

Specialty certification (required for graduate level)

5 years of teaching at the collegiate level

7 years of clinical experience

Experience with simulation

Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, leadership, and time‑management skills

Outstanding computer skills and proficiency in learning management systems, Microsoft Office

Salary $115,000–$135,000

Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
