The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is seeking a mission-driven, relationship-centered Executive Director to lead the Linwood YMCA/James B. Nutter, Sr. Community Center—one of our most historic and community-anchored locations. This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced nonprofit or community-focused leader to drive membership, programs, partnerships, and long-term impact in Kansas City’s urban core.

Position Summary The Executive Director oversees all daily center operations, drives strategic growth, and serves as the face of the Y in the Linwood community. This leader is accountable for membership growth, financial performance, community partnerships, program innovation, and delivering an exceptional member experience aligned with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City’s mission and values. The Executive Director builds strong teams, cultivates volunteer leadership, and ensures the center remains a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all.

$68,000–$75,000 hiring range

Professional development and leadership training
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum five years of progressive management experience; YMCA or nonprofit leadership preferred.
Proven success leading teams, coaching leaders, and developing staff talent.
Demonstrated experience in membership, customer service, program operations, community engagement, and/or fundraising.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and public speaking skills.
Ability to analyze data, drive performance metrics, and implement strategic plans.
Passion for the YMCA mission, community impact, equity, and inclusive leadership.
Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.
