Summary
The Optometrist is a medical provider who provides comprehensive vision and eye care services. The Optometrist evaluates patients to determine potential vision problems, eye disease or conditions and if the patient requires any subsequent care to address. They work closely with Ophthalmologists to provide a comprehensive eye care model to take care of all of the patients needs. This position is located at Ben Taub General Hospital. Job Duties
Provides integrated, team-based primary eye care alongside ophthalmologists in our practice -Perform comprehensive eye exams, diagnose and manage common ocular conditions (such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye). Co-manages pre- and post-operative care. Works in collaboration with ophthalmologists to help triage and manage patients efficiently, allowing for timely referrals of complex cases while contributing to clinical education and research within the academic setting. Fits medically necessary contact lenses, scleral lenses and/or EyePrints or other devices as prescribed or indicated. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Optometry (OD). Current license as an Optometrist by the Texas Optometry Board. Preferred Qualifications
